In 2018, ten States nominated 43 individuals to ICSID’s Panel of Arbitrators and Panel of Conciliators.

The Panels are an important component of the ICSID dispute resolution system. Appointments made by the Chairman of the Administrative Council must be drawn from the Panels. The Panels also provide a diverse and qualified pool of arbitrators and conciliators for parties to consider when making appointments in ICSID cases.

Each ICSID Contracting State may designate up to four persons to each Panel. The designees may, but need not, be nationals of the designating country. In addition, up to ten persons may be designated by the Chairman of the ICSID Administrative Council. Each designee serves for a renewable term of six years.

From January 1 to December 31, 2018, designations to the ICSID Panels were made by the governments of Benin, Colombia, Egypt, Haiti, Lebanon, Mexico, Paraguay, Syria, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

The names of these designees and the effective dates of their terms in office are listed below. For some of the designees the acceptance procedure is to be completed.

The complete list of the members of the ICSID Panels of Arbitrators and of Conciliators is updated on a regular basis and can be found here.
