On November 20, 2014, ICSID and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) signed an updated collaboration agreement. The Agreement on General Arrangements Between the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (“the Agreement”) was signed by Prof. Datuk Sundra Rajoo, Director of the KLRCA, and Secretary-General of ICSID, Meg Kinnear.

The original Agreement was signed on February 5, 1979. The present Agreement supersedes the previous version and further encourages cooperation and knowledge sharing between the two institutions. To mark this event, Secretary-General Kinnear and ICSID Senior Counsel Martina Polasek gave a presentation overviewing ICSID practice and current trends in investment arbitration. The presentation was attended by more than 100 counsel, arbitrators, government officials and academics from Malaysia.
