January 18, 2024

12:00 – 1:30 pm | ICSID’s Offices

1225 Connecticut Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C.

& Virtual (Zoom)

In July 2023, the UNCITRAL Code of Conduct for Arbitrators in International Investment Dispute Resolution was adopted, the draft of which was prepared jointly by secretariats of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). In December, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution recommending the use of the Code by arbitrators, former arbitrators, candidates, disputing parties, and administering institutions, and recommending governments involved in the negotiation of international investment instruments to make reference to the Code. Additional information about the Code is available here.

This joint ICSID and UNCITRAL event is an opportunity explore the key features of the Code of Conduct, share perspectives on its implementation in investment arbitration, and discuss its implications for practitioners, arbitrators, and government officials.
