Book Launch — Arbitration Costs: Myths and Realities in Investment Treaty Arbitration

On May 21, 2019, ICSID hosted an event to mark the publication of "Arbitration Costs: Myth and Realities in Investment Arbitration" by Susan Franck, Professor of Law at American University Washington College of Law. The book offers insights drawn from cognitive psychology and hard data to explore the reality of investment treaty arbitration, identify core demographics and basic information on outcomes, and drill down on the costs of parties' counsel and arbitral tribunals. The event was moderated by Meg Kinnear, Secretary-General of ICSID, and featured commentary by Susan Franck, Christina L. Beharry (counsel at Holey Foag), Mark Kantor (an independent arbitrator), and Patrick Pearsall (partner at Jenner & Block).
