July 5, 2023: ICSID is pleased to announce that Lu Wang has joined ICSID as Scholar in Residence.
Dr. Wang is a Lecturer and core member of the China International Business and Economic Law (CIBEL) Centre at the Faculty of Law and Justice, University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). She has been teaching and researching in the areas of international law, international investment law and dispute resolution, international arbitration, and Chinese regulation of international business. She has published in the above areas with leading national and international journals and also engaged in a few major research projects on Chinese investment treaties. Her current research project explores interactions between State-owned enterprises (SOEs) and the investment law regime.
Lu works closely with international organizations and key actors involved in the field of international trade and investment and is active member of the Asia Pacific FDI Network. She served as a co-guest editor of the ICSID Review – Foreign Investment Law Journal for its first Special Focus Issue on SOE and international investment law and was a Visiting Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at the University of Cambridge. Lu holds two PhDs from the University of Liverpool in the UK and Xi’an Jiaotong University in China.
Scholars in Residence serve an important role in supporting ICSID’s publications and research program, as well as advising the ICSID Secretariat on topics within their areas of expertise.
Lu Wang is ICSID’s third Scholar in Residence. Chiara Giorgetti, Professor of Law at Richmond Law School, held the position in 2019, and Andrea Bjorklund, Professor of Law at McGill University’s Faculty of Law, held it in 2014.
