On October 13, 2017, the ICSID Administrative Council held its 51st Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.

At the meeting, the Administrative Council approved the 2017 ICSID Annual Report and adopted the Annual Budget of ICSID for FY2018.

ICSID celebrated its 50th year of operation in 2016 as the acknowledged world leader in investor-State dispute settlement. In the past fiscal year alone, ICSID administered 258 cases, the most in any single year of its history. Forty nine new cases were registered, bringing the overall total of ICSID cases to 619.  ICSID concluded 56 proceedings, the highest in its history, demonstrating that its efforts to expedite the arbitral process are having an impact on the duration of individual cases. ICSID Tribunals rendered a record of 32 awards in addition to 449 other decisions and procedural orders issued by arbitral tribunals, conciliation commissions and ad hoc committees in the course of the year. ICSID Contracting States made 73 new designations to the ICSID Panels of Arbitrators and Conciliators. A total of 657 individuals currently serve on the ICSID Panels.

Further details on ICSID's operation are available in the 2017 Annual Report and on this website.
