On February 27, 2015, the International Bar Association (IBA) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) jointly sponsored International Arbitration Day.  In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the ICSID Convention, the focus of International Arbitration Day this year was ICSID and investor-State dispute settlement. The conference included an introduction by the Secretary-General of ICSID, Ms. Meg Kinnear, and covered a number of important topics through various sessions moderated by ICSID Counsels. These sessions offered a retrospective on the drafting of the ICSID Convention and addressed how investment arbitration fulfills the purposes of BITs and procedural issues in investment arbitration. The last session addressed the future of investment arbitration and included a futuristic video in which experts describe investment treaty arbitration in 2025.  For further information, and to watch the conference proceedings, please click here.
