Report of the Executive Directors on the ICSID Convention

The ICSID Convention was drafted between 1961 and 1965. This process included multiple draft texts, meetings with legal experts in Addis Ababa, Bangkok, Geneva and Santiago, review by a Legal Committee, and approval by the Executive Directors of the World Bank. The related documents are compiled in the History of the ICSID Convention.
On March 18, 1965, the Executive Directors submitted the ICSID Convention to World Bank member governments for signature and ratification, with an appended Report of the Executive Directors on the ICSID Convention. The ICSID Convention entered into force on October 14, 1966, after the signature and ratification of 20 States.
