ICSID’s “Investment Mediation Insights” webinar series, which debuted in 2021, returned in 2025 with a new installment offering practical insights into the growing field of investor-state mediation.

This Spanish-language episode (with English subtitles), “A Recap of an Investment Mediation – Reflections from the investor, the State and the Mediator,” presented a case study of a mediation in Ecuador, featuring representatives of the investor, the State, and the mediator.

During the discussion, the speakers reflected on the beginning, development, and outcome of the mediation process. The session also explored how the role of parties' counsel in mediation is different from their role in arbitration. It also looked at the reasons why the parties chose mediation to solve their dispute.
