The Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (the ICSID Convention) was signed today on behalf of the Republic of Nauru by the Honorable David Adeang, Minister for Finance & Sustainable Development and Minister for Justice. Minister Adeang was accompanied at the signing ceremony by Mr. Martin Hunt, Secretary for Finance, Ms. Engaro Adeang, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. John Petersen, Financial Advisor to the Minister for Finance. The signing ceremony was also attended by officials and staff of the World Bank and ICSID, and other guests. Following the signing, Minister Adeang deposited Nauru’s Instrument of Ratification of the Convention with the World Bank.
In accordance with its Article 68(2), the ICSID Convention will enter into force for Nauru on May 12, 2016. For a complete list of Contracting States and Other Signatories of the Convention, please visit our website, here.
