On October 3-4, 2024, ICSID’s Legal Counsel Anna Toubiana participated in the South Cone International Disputes Forum (SCIDF) held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. See program (in Spanish) here.
Day 1: On October 3, Young ICSID collaborated with SCIDF to organize a practical training session focused on investment arbitration. Anna Toubiana delivered a presentation on the unique aspects of ICSID arbitration. She was joined by co-panelists Sofia Klot (Sofia Klot Arbitration) and Ignacio Minorini Lima (Bruchou & Funes de Rioja), who discussed jurisdictional requirements and the denial of benefits in investment arbitration. The session was moderated by Nicolás Bianchi (Alfredo de Jesús O.). Following the presentations, the audience was divided into groups to engage in a moot case.
Day 2: On October 4, Anna Toubiana participated as a panelist in a discussion on institutional arbitration. She was joined by Anna Paola Tamayo (Chamber of Commerce of Lima), and Victoria Rodríguez (ICC Argentina). The panelists shared their expertise and perspectives on the role of institutions in arbitration, highlighting best practices and emerging trends in the field.
