Over the coming weeks, the Young ICSID Steering Committee will carefully review the applications and will reach out directly to candidates who are shortlisted for an interview.

If, unfortunately, a candidate is not shortlisted, they will receive a notification regarding the outcome of their application. Due to the high volume of applications received, we are only able to provide personalized feedback to candidates who proceed to the interview stage.

Since its creation in November 2012, Young ICSID has served as a platform to foster the growth of young professionals in international investment dispute resolution, spread knowledge on investment law, and nurture a diverse talent pool in arbitration. With a membership of over 3,000 individuals from across the globe, Young ICSID continues to promote ICSID and international investment.

Young ICSID is headed by a Steering Committee based in ICSID’s offices in Washington, D.C. The Steering Committee members are:

Each Member of the Steering Committee serves as Regional Coordinator of at least one Regional Group.

Launch of Young ICSID Regional Delegates
As part of its continued efforts to further the promotion of international investment and the spread of knowledge about investment arbitration, Young ICSID has decided to expand its global reach through the creation of eight Regional Groups, each one represented by two Regional Delegates.

Young ICSID’s Steering Committee will oversee and coordinate the Regional Delegates and be responsible for their selection.

The eight Regional Groups are:

  • Young ICSID - Europe
  • Young ICSID - South America
  • Young ICSID - North America
  • Young ICSID - Central Asia
  • Young ICSID - Mexico and Central America & Caribbean
  • Young ICSID - South Asia & East Asia & Pacific
  • Young ICSID - Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Young ICSID - Middle East & North Africa                         

Become a Young ICSID Regional Delegate
Young ICSID’s Steering Committee is presently inviting expressions of interest from candidates to volunteer as Regional Delegates.

The Steering Committee is looking for candidates who:

  • Are highly motivated to contribute to promoting ICSID and the development of international investment arbitration in the region they seek to represent.
  • Are active in the field of investment dispute settlement, have substantial knowledge of international investment law and dispute settlement.
  • Have had exposure to ICSID proceedings.
  • Have a deep understanding of the region they seek to represent.
  • Have an established presence and/or affiliations in the region they seek to represent.
  • Are ready and available to undertake the logistical organization of events and organize at least one event per year in the assigned region.
  • Consult and communicate regularly with their assigned supervising member of the Steering Committee.
  • Assist in the promotion and development of the Regional Group’s network of young practitioners such as lawyers, arbitrators, in-house counsel, and government officials.
  • Take initiatives in developing benefits and opportunities for the Young ICSID Members.
  • Are available to serve for the term of one year.
  • Are under 45.
  • Are fluent in either English, Spanish or French (fluency in two or three of these languages is strongly preferred).

Regional Delegates work voluntarily and must fund their own involvement with Young ICSID.
