Paris ICSID Hearing Facility Reopens After Renovation

The main hearing room (Room A) at the World Bank Group Conference Centre in Paris, France has been upgraded and is now available for ICSID hearings, with new and enhanced high-tech features and a modernized interior.

In roughly half of all cases, disputing parties elect to hold hearings and sessions in Paris. The World Bank Centre now has three state-of-the-art hearing rooms and an additional hearing room scheduled for construction. Room A in Paris can accommodate hearings of any size and technical complexity, and all hearing rooms are supported by a dedicated and experienced IT team for public hearing broadcasts, video links and other technical matters.

ICSID hearings are held worldwide at any venue agreed by the parties. To assist the parties, ICSID arranges hearings and video-links at World Bank offices around the world or at the facilities of institutions with which it has cooperation agreements.

In addition to upgrading the interior design of the Paris main hearing room, new upgrades include the following technological features:

  • Wireless  digital infra-red (IR) microphone system (push-to-talk)
  • Wireless  digital IR Simultaneous Interpretation (SI) system (4-SI channels plus floor)
  • SI booths (one of the new SI booths is ADA-compliant for wheel chair access)
  • Configurable projection system (can project one large image, two side-by-side images (from different sources) or picture-in-picture mode)
  • LED lighting throughout the room
  • Full HD cameras (x5)
  • Web-streaming capabilities (x2 channels)
  • Cisco VC capabilities
  • Full HD recording capabilities
  • Audio recording capabilities
  • Audio PA system
